Carrie and Michael
Q. How do you spend your free time around the area?
A. Are you involved in the community? We enjoy spending time outside, especially taking our dog Zula to the local dog parks. Honestly, getting more involved in the community is one of our goals over the next couple years. We are in the midst of planning our wedding right now and hope to get more involved once that is done.
Q. Could you explain what it is about the neighborhood that you enjoy… or what drew you to living in your particular neighborhood?
A. Our favorite thing about the Woodstone neighborhood is how close it is to everything. We are only 5 minutes from the grocery store, mall, beltline etc.. and only 10-20 minutes from work and downtown. The lots also have decent size backyards, which our dog Zula loves.
Q. Where did you move from, and how did you end up in Middleton and the Woodstone neighborhood?
A. We moved from a condo near Hawks Landing and loved that area, but wanted an address in the Middleton School District. One afternoon, we were casually driving through the Woodstone neighborhood and saw a sign that the model had an open house. We had NO intentions of pulling the trigger and buying a house that day. We nonchalantly stopped and walked through it and fell l in love with the house from the floor layout, color scheme, interior design work and the Heffron Homes sale consultant Terry, who was running the open house. We started talking to Terry about the few things we would want to change in the model if we were to build our own. One thing that we really wanted was a walk out lower level, and one of the lots Heffron Homes had available was at the top of the hill in Woodstone and could have a fully exposed basement (SCORE!) After a couple weeks of researching other neighborhoods and lots, we were ready to sign papers with Heffron Homes and fully trusted they would build our dream home.
Q. Were there any surprises of building a new home?
A. I was surprised by how smooth the whole process went with making all of our selections. Jacyln was amazing at listening to our thoughts but also giving advice and suggestions along the way. She really was our sounding board, and made us feel confident that the selections we were making would give us the look that we wanted. I was expecting to be very indecisive with a lot of the selections, and thought it would take me hours to decide which door handle design I wanted, but with her help, it only took a couple minutes. Also, Dan was very accommodating with any changes we wanted to make during the process. We had heard horror stories from others that with some builders you are unable to make changes once the final plans were set, or you would pay an arm and a leg to make those changes. With Heffron Homes, this was not the case.
Q. Are there particular features or design elements that you are happy were incorporated into your new home?
A. We LOVE our kitchen!!!!! Our hang out place in the house is around our big island, we are so glad we extended our island out further from our original lay out, and upgraded to Cambria counter tops. We also are really happy that we placed the laundry room on the second floor, making our mud room bigger and also the convenience of how close it is to our bedrooms.
Thank you, Carrie and Michael, it was a pleasure working with you. Thank you for offering your story how you've built your home, and life, in Woodstone. We wish you happiness there for many years co come.

Q. If you could offer advice about building, what would it be?
A. Ask questions along the way. No question is a dumb question. Dan, Jaclyn, and Terry were always able to provide clarity with whatever questions or concerns we had, no matter how big or small it was.
Search the web and save inspiration pictures. We always took inspiration pictures into our meetings with Jaclyn and she was able to show us options close to these pictures, which was very helpful in making all of the fine detail decisions.
Lastly, enjoy the process! Take it day by day and decision by decision. There are a lot of decisions to make, and thinking of all of them at once can be very overwhelming and stressful. Heffron Homes did a very good job at helping us through each step of the building process.
