Q. Where did you move from and how did you end up in Prairie du Sac's Fieldstone neighborhood?
A. My wife, Bonnie, and I lived on Lake Wisconsin in Foster's Shore for 23 years. We had walkout access to the lake and enjoyed it very much. However, when my wife of 47 years passed away in 2012, I eventually decided that I needed to simplify my life and move back to Sauk Prairie. I started the process with long time friends, Dan & Daleen Heffron. Daleen and I looked at a number of condos for sale in the area and concluded that having a new condo built on Fieldstone Blvd would best meet my needs.
Q. How do you spend time with your family around the area?
A. We moved to the Sauk Prairie community in 1969. For 8 years I worked as a
teacher and coach at the high school. I left teaching and spent the next 25 years
in the insurance business and then 5 years in real estate before retiring. Like
many grandparents, l now am spending lots of bleacher time watching my 4
grandkids compete on various sports teams. It keeps me busy and I love it.
Q. Could you explain what it is about the neighborhood that you enjoy… or what drew you to living in the Fieldstone neighborhood?
A. I love the quiet nature of the Fieldstone community. My condo faces north so I have a view of the Baraboo Bluffs. I live in the village but it feels like I live live in the country.
Q. Were there any surprises of building a new home?
A. No real surprises. I will say that I was very impressed and pleased with the skill and workmanship of the craftsman who built my home. They were very professional.
Q. Are there particular features or design elements that you are happy were incorporated into your new home?
A. The most important design feature for me was that everything I needed to do on a daily basis was on one level. That feature was achieved. I am very pleased with the floor plan
Q. If you could offer advice about building, what would it be?
A. !f you are planning to build for the first time, take your time and make lists of features you want in your home as well as features you don't want. Take advantage of open houses, Parade Homes, etc. Meet with your builder and
work together on a plan that meet your needs and budget.
Thank you so much, Jim... you have a beautiful home! It is so nice to hear your story and the journey of building your new home. We wish you happiness there for many years to come.

Jim has lovely exterior living space incorporated into his home as well. Here you're able to see his patio that overlooks the Fieldstone neighborhood and its park. The patio comes off a three-season porch.
