Q. Where did you move from, and how did you end up on Lake Wisconsin?
A. As our middle-school boys slept in on Sunday mornings, we would take frequent drives from our West Madison home around Lake Wisconsin. We loved the area. Looking for a weekend retreat, we came upon a well-kept cottage on Bay Drive. The Okee area location was Perfect. We spent many fun weekends over the next 15 years.
Q. How do you spend time around the area? What drew you to the area?
A. We enjoyed activities around the water, Devil’s Lake and other natural attractions nearby. Upon retirement, it was time to get down to one house. Our grown sons and their families, encouraged us to build at the lake. They didn’t want to let go of the walks, boat rides, lakeside fires, lawn games, beautiful sunsets etc., which now is enjoyed by their children as well.
Q. Were there any surprises of building a new home?
A. Building was a new experience for us. We did a great deal of research but lacked the ability to convert it into reality. With Dan’s guidance, and many creative hours with him, we built a home that we love & can grow old in. The Heffron staff were very patient, thorough and wanted to make us happy. We are very grateful to all.
Q. Are there particular features or design elements that you are happy were incorporated into your new home?
A. There are so many features that we enjoy in our new home. To name a few: the large spacious windows overlooking the lake, a bright sun room, the efficient, storage filled, kitchen & pantry, no steps - with the zero-entrance features incorporated throughout and the beautiful master bath. Provided was a design meeting our ample storage needs.
Q. If you could offer advice about building, what would it be?
A. If you’re looking for a high-quality product that will serve your needs for years, team up with an experienced, highly regarded contractor. Dan listened to our many “wants” and dutifully worked to include them within our limited space and budget. We feel so fortunate to have found a friendly, knowledgeable, and most capable builder in Heffron Homes.
