The Water's Edge

Q. What brought you to The Water's Edge neighborhood, and what made you decide that this is the place to build your beautiful home?

A. We loved that the property was on the lake, and it was so quiet. A park super close by for the kids was a nice plus in the neighborhood! It is also very close to Prairie du Sac, and not far from the Madison airport, so easy access for travel, and easy to get to from Milwaukee. Another big draw was that there is an HOA which handles landscaping as well as snow removal, for when we are not there.

Q. How do you enjoy life around the Lake Wisconsin area? Any favorite local spots, traditions, or ways your family has gotten involved?

A. We are loving being on Lake Wisconsin, there is SO much to do, with a different adventure every weekend if you want. And, plenty to do on the lake right outside our patio. We have really enjoyed the local restaurants and frequent the park and splash pad often in Prairie du Sac! We also love that it is a small town community feel.

Q. What's one thing that you enjoy about having a home on the Lake?
A. We love that there are so many activities to do just outside, The kids loving jumping off the dock; our daughter has learned how to fish and absolutely loves it.

Q. Were there any surprises about building a new home?
A. We had built our first custom home in Denver, CO with a local builder about 12 years before this, so we luckily had gone through the process and knew a little bit what to expect. The process was very smooth.

Q. Are there particular features or design elements that you are happy were incorporated into your new home?
A. My 91 year old grandparents have a farm in northeastern Iowa, we were able to utilize a couple of the walnut trees from the farm into our dining room table as well as bar top downstairs. I love that the history will always be there. We also did two washers and dryers and two dishwashers in the kitchen, which I would highly recommend! I also love the way the walk-in pantry and wallpaper turned out, as well as a bunk room (queen beds on bottom, twin on top), for visitors! .

Q. What was the most exciting, or fun, part of the home building process?
A. We loved being able to choose every detail of the house, not just paint colors or counter tops, but literally everything. It can be overwhelming at times, but you truly get exactly what you want. I love adding unique things to the home, such as fun wallpaper, built in night lights, dog shower in garage, etc.

Q. If you were giving advice to a friend before they built their own home, what would you tell them?

A. I would tell them to try and think of EVERYTHING that they wish they had in any home they've ever lived in. From the smallest details, outlets, towel bars, built in book shelves etc. When building a home from the ground up, those things are much easier to incorporate rather than doing it after the fact.

Jill and Jonathan,
Thank you for showing our readers a glimpse into your beautiful, new lake home. It was truly our pleasure, from design to completed construction, our entire team enjoyed working with your family.
